An Inspiring Visit to RHS Wisley

Today I paid the RHS Wisley garden a visit which was very inspiring, and the first time I’ve been since the new RHS Hilltop has been open. In honesty this garden visit has helped me get out of a bit of a motivation slump and feel a little more inspired about Landscape Architecture. The features which most caught my eye in Wisley were the different uses for water in the different parts of the garden. For example the cascading waterfalls and pools in the rock garden, or the artificial stream outside RHS Hilltop which had ripples due to uneven paving beneath the surface. Water is something I plan to explore more in future designs and projects. The planting and design behind the RHS Hilltop was very interesting to me too with the more stagnant pools of water and bridges and paths leading around the space. This space felt a little more inspired by nature than some of the more formal gardens at Wisley. Overall a very inspiring trip.
