Pittville Park Sketching

In one of our lectures, we were taken to Pittville Park and Pittville Pump Rooms in Cheltenham to be taught how to more quickly capture and sketch a landscape. I found this exercise really useful for quickly capturing scenes by hand. Too often I find myself being a perfectionist when it comes to drawing and sketching, this sketching exercise definitely helped me to realise I can capture the key aspects of how I see a space just as efficiently in much less time than I would have done before.

Above is the first sketch I did during this lecture. This was looking towards Pittville Lake from the Pump Room steps.

The scan above is of a page I sketched using the new technique I discovered, in Pittville Park looking from the grandstand towards the Pump Rooms. I think there is definitely improvement between this sketch and the first one I did in that lecture, I think something I definitely want to work on is sketching trees quickly and adding more depth to them.
